In the world of pocket knives, the G10 has superhero status as a handle material. It's an epoxy-soaked fiberglass laminate that's grippy in the hand, nearly indestructible, repels moisture and chemicals, and doesn't retain heat or cold. The smaller Meadowlark model is one of the Byrd line's first laminated handle offerings. It has a concave ground blade made of 8Cr13MoV high carbon stainless steel, available with a smooth edge or a combination of smooth/ serrated edges. The comet shaped hole in the blade is found on all byrd knives and symbolizes the quality and close tolerances of the manufacturing and allows the knife to be opened with one hand. To keep the knife from slipping in the hand while cutting, there is a cross-patterned texturing section on the spine of the blade called jimping. The G10 Meadowlark is right-handed, with pre-drilled holes in the handle so the pocket clip can be positioned to be carried tip up or down. The stiffness and strength of the folder are further enhanced by full-length stainless steel liners set inside the handle. Offering a tasteful touch of embellishment, the full-length threading on the back of the handle. A David Boye Dent indentation in the lock release lever allows you to press down hard on the lock without worrying about inadvertently disengaging the blade.
